Card Club Information for November

Hello Everyone,
Our November card club will be held on Friday night the 6th at 7pm. At our last card club someone asked if we could make something that could be given as a gift since the holidays are coming up. I put together this note card holder with matching notecards inside. It's a black and white themed set and will left sentiment free so that they can be used for any occasion. Please remember that space is limited so contact me if you plan on attending no later than Nov 1st.

Christmas tags

I was in one of those crafting moods today but didn't feel like making a card or scapbooking. I wanted to try out a stamp that I haven't used yet so I used this mitten from this Christmas set by Stampin up. I stamped it with clear embossing ink and embossed it with red embossing tinsel. I then cut out 2 for each tag and connected them with some twine and dimensionals. I cut the scallop circles in 3 1/2 inches using my mini monograms cartridge and my cricut. I did th 3" circles in this really cute holiday paper that I found in the target dollar bins last year. I added the to & from to the backs and added twine again for the ties. I've added this set to my etsy store.

Uncle Bart's birthday

It's my husband's uncles birthday on the 22nd and this is the card that I made up for him. I found this adorable little trees in the dollar bins at Michaels a few weeks ago and I was so happy that I had an occasion to use them. I also used a material that I haven't used much in cards. Mulberry papper. It's the green pressed paper used along the bottom of the card. I used a water brush and a tooth brush to create the feathered edge. The background paper used is from a mat pack by dcwv and I think it's called "once upon a time".

Scrapbooking again

It's been a very long time since I have scrapbooked. Once I started making cards and other paper crafts, I got very behind on my scrapbooking. I enjoyed doing it again but, when I started to pick out paper I started to think that I forgot how to do it. It slowly came back to me. I try to create a left and right page of the same theme. I think that it looks alot nicer in an album. This 2 page set is from my daughter Hayley's 2nd dance recital in 2004. I cut out the Dance letters from my cricut using the George basic cartridge and did all my journalling inside of them. I used some silver stickles to match the silver crown on her head. I'm not the kind of person that will put 1 or 2 pictures on a page. I fit 11 pictures on this 2 page layout.

Christmas gift tags

Ok, I couldn't wait to start making some Christmas gift tags for this year. Of course I'm not going to make them for all of my holiday gifts but they do look so nice hanging off of gift bags and wine bottles. Here are just 4 different kinds that I came up with the other night while I had some quiet time in my scraproom. I think that I'm going to give them away to someone in my cardclub this Friday night. Paper crafts are so much fun to make and even more fun to give away.

Mojo Monday Madness

It's time once again for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and once again they came up with a great layout. This one was easy because I used a Martha Stewart stamp set that I've been wanting to use for a while now. This set is a 2 step stamp set that has the solid part of the flower and the 2nd step outlines the flower. I used a marker to color in by the center of the flower and red ink to do around the petals. I outlined in colorbox fluid chalk warm red. I used paper from a DCWV mat pack and dry embossed the black with my cuttlebug. It's pretty simple, especially when the layout was all done for me. If you want to see some more cards made with this same layout, just click on the link in this post or click on the blinkie on the left bar of my blog. The design team came up with some great ideas.

Sure cuts alot

I'm so excited to tell you all that I have recently become an affiliate of sure cuts alot by Craft Edge. If you're someone who owns a cricut or cricut expression machine, you would probably want to hear about this product. This program lets you cut out any font that you currently have on your computer or any shape that you can create or download for free off the internet. It also cuts out the wingding and dingbat shapes that you have too. You can also weld your letters together so that it cuts it out in one whole piece like the cricut design studio does but you don't need to buy the cartridges to do so. Think about all of those font cartridges that you will never need again. All you need is your computer and a usb cord that will plug into your cricut machine. You can create on the go on a laptop, and then plug it into your cricut when you get home and cut your original creations. If you are someone who has already heard about this product and would like to purchase it, you can just click on the icon located to the left of this post. If you have any questions, post a comment and I will try to answer your questions right on the comment board for everyone to read.

Card club project

Hi everyone, Here is a photo of the project for our October card club. I had to start thinking about Christmas because it's right around the corner and there are only 3 card club until then. We will be making a handmade gift bag with handle, a gift card holder (much needed for the holidays) and we will throw in some gift tags at the end of class. This is a perfect time to start making your Christmas cards, tags and gift wrap so that you aren't stuck in December with a ton of things to do.
As I put in a previous post, card club will be on 10/16 @7pm. General info. is listed in the left bar of the blog. Please let me know by 10/11 if you'll be attending. Hope to see you there!

Hayley's Party Invitations

My daughter Hayley is turning 11 and is having a sleepover party with her friends. Since there were only a few girls coming, I decided to make the invitations myself. The size of this card is 3 1/2 x 6 1/4. The papers that I used on these cards all came from the same DCWV mat pack. Even the butterflies were on a page in the pack and I cut them out. I used dimentionals on them to make them pop. I used the Martha Stewart lattice punch to the bottom edge. I tried this somewhat of a new technique by adding a window sheet. I just sliced a middle section out of the card. Stamped my sentiment on the inside paper and added the window sheet to the cover. I think that it turned out really nice.

Mojo Monday Sketch challenge

I've been so sick this past week that I haven't had any time to do my Mojo Monday sketch challenge card. I made a halloween card for this one. I used paper from a DCWV mat pack. They are just the right size for making cards. The pumpkin stamp was actually picked up at a target $1 bin. Now that's what I call a deal! The punch going along the bottom is from the Martha Stewart border punch collection. I also added some bling to the black strip going along bottom to give it some more shine. The pumpkin looked a little plain so I spread out some diamond stickles and filled it in to give it some more shine. OH....By the way, how do you like my new fall colors on the blog. I figured that I would change the colors since fall is coming up so quickly. I think it looks festive.

Halloween cards

Hello Everyone, I had card club at my house last night and we made our 4x4 albums that I had in my last post. Everyone did such a nice job on their projects. We even had time to make a card, so I chose to do a Halloween themed card. Isn't this little spider so cute. Of course, he wouldn't be so cute if he was real because I hate spiders but I like the ones that are made of black cardstock. I did the accordian fold technique shown on Becky Ochlers' blog. The patterned paper used came from the Slab XI by Provo Craft. The green paper is just textured card stock with ranger distress ink around the edges and my happy little spider was cut out from the doodlecharm cartridge of my cricut. I used white dimensional paint for his eyes and a white gel pen for his little web handing down. Hope you like it.

Card club information (4x4 mini album)

Sorry it's taken me this long to post the project for the upcoming card club. The project that we will be making will be this 4x4 mini album. It holds a total of 12 photos. The size is perfect because your photos are already printed 4x6 so you only need to trim 2 inches and you will have a perfect fit. In this sample, I added some pictures from our trip to Nestlenook resort in NH in 1999 that I never scrapbooked (cover design will vary for our class). I left a few pages blank because I'm making some journaling pages and I have to write on them before attaching them. After you learn how to make this album, it can me modified to make as a 5x5 or 6x6 if you choose but I like the 4x4 the best because the pictures fit out to the edges. Card club is the 9/11 @ 7pm sharp. Space is very limited and I need to prepare your project ahead of time so please respond by 9/6. I will not be taking any new people after this date because my schedule doesn't give me much time to get ready for the class. Please click on the contact me button on the left and let me know if you'll be attending and I will send you back any info. you will need.

For a Gracious Hostess

Hello Everyone. Tomorrow I'm going to my friend Carol's house for her house warming party. I wanted to make her a card to put along with her gift and this is what I came up with. I have to say, this was somewhat of a cheater card. This beautiful embellishment on the left of the card was already on the cardstock. It came from a matstack by DCWV called Garden Party. The papers from this pack are so pretty. It's so easy to just throw together a card in a short amount of time when the inspiration is given to you. I cut out the butterfly on the right from the home accents cricut cartridge and embellished it with some silver stickles. Popped up his wings and glued him on using tombow mono multi purpose adhesive. I wrapped a ribbon around the cardstock and the sentiment again is from my mega mixed messages by paper trey ink. LOVE that stamp set. I have their link down on the left of my blog.

Miss you

My husband was going away for a business trip so I made a card for him and hid it in his suitcase. I've attached a picture of me, our daughters and our dog to the inside with a little message. This was a really easy, super quick card but also gave lots of impact. I used a 1 1/8 square punch. Picked out 4 coordinating papers and punched 3 of each pattern. Dry arranged them glued them down. Stamped my sentiment with the same coordinating papers. Finished it off with some inked edges and paper piercing and dimensionals. The 2nd picture is the one that I glued to the inside of his card. He was so surprised when her found it.

Card club update

Hi girls. It's been 3 months since we got together for our regular card club. We all know that summer time is so busy and there's something going on every minute of the day. Now that fall is right around the corner, I thought that I would start them up again. Our next date will be Friday September 11th. Look out for a posting in the next few days so that you know what we will be making and all of the tools that you will be needing. I can't wait to see you all again.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

Once again, I'm joining in on the fun at the Mojo Monday site. If you'd like the see the original sketch for this challenge you can click here. I kind of got a little funky with the colors but it's summer time after all. I love to use these bright fun colors. I started this card with some dry embossing with the cuttlebug spots and dots folder. The background patterned paper I used is from the girly glitter pack from AC Moore. The wonderful label shape comes from my new Spellbinder nestabilities set called Label 1. It works so great and I can't wait to get more shapes. The strip down the left side was made using Martha Stewart's doily border punch. This card was left with no sentiment and can be used for almost any occasion. It's going into the Etsy store shortly for sale.

Anniversary card

There was no real reason for making this card except that I wanted to use some of my new paper that I picked up today by DCWV. I also wanted to use these owls that I bought on Ebay months ago (don't know who they are by). I stamped and embossed them on watercolor paper then watercolored them in. I used the martha Stewart doiley border punch on the right. Added some faux stitching with a white gel pen and wrapped a ribbon. The sentiment again is by Paper Trey ink's Mega Mixed Messages. I love the way it came out and it's going into the Etsy store soon.

Purse gift card holder

I saw this done on Dawn's stamping thoughts and loved it! It's just the cutest little gift card holder. I made one for my niece Adryanna's birthday. I bought her an outfit with some accessories. One was a set of earrings. I decided to put those in the holder instead of a gift card. There is a clear plastic pocket inside to hold whatever you are giving. I used a girly glitter designer paper that I picked up at ac moore for the bottom of the purse and the top was just some solid cardstock that I had that matched the patterned paper. I ran the solid paper through my cuttlebug with the swiss dots embossing folder and used the riveting stamp set by stampin up for the clasp of the purse. It's a great gift idea. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. This item will also be in my etsy store.
