Christmas Scrapbook Page 1999

Here's a page that I just made starring my oldest daughter Hayley.  She was 15 month old and back then we didn't have digital cameras so we would have to take a whole roll of film just to make sure that we got at least 1 good picture for her Christmas card.  Boy have times changed.  She was so cute though and I can't believe that she's 12 now.  I Love hopping around with my scrapbooking and not really going in order.  I think that it's more fun that way.

Some Holiday items

When visiting with my friend Margaret last week, I noticed that she was making some teacher's gifts.  It was an idea that I had seen a couple of years ago but totally forgot about until I saw them sitting on her table.  They are adorable post it note holders.  It's really nice to have by your phone.  I put an RSVP pen with coordinating holiday designer paper inside.  These are just black metal  frames that I found at my local AC Moore store for about $1.49 on sale

Here's a couple of really easy gift tags that I also made to attach to the neck of a wine bottle.  They're made with cherry cobbler cardstock and I used the slit punch to make the clasp.  I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo but I embossed the words Merry and Brite in silver on the front.  I used fancy gold yarn that I picked up in the knitting dept. of Walmart to make the tie.

At last but not least,  I used one of my fall stamp sets on this Christmas card.  It's the very popular French Foliage.  I saw this on Dawn Olchefske's blog.  I thought that it was such a cute idea.  I used Old Olive for the card base and wreath and Bravo burgandy was used to stamp the splashes and the ribbon.
Hope you got some quick and easy ideas for some last minute details.

Stamp Club

Hi All,

I talked to some of you already about starting a stamp club in January.  It's when a group of 6 people agree to purchase $25 worth of Stampin Up products by the 15th of each month and everyone will take a turn being the hostess for that month and get all of the hostess benefits (choice of a level 1 hostess set and $15 of free products).  The commitment is for 6 months so that everyone has a turn being the hostess.  We have 3 girls wanting to be part of it already and are looking for 3 more.  I would just need an email from you by the 15th of each month letting me know what your order is and you can either mail me a check, pay by credit card.  Please let me know if you're interested.

Chalk Technique Sample Birthday card

Here's a sample card that I made with the chalk technique.  I love this technique because it has a vintage look to it and it doesn't have to be perfect to have a nice affect.  This is a sample of what we'll be doing on Friday night at card club.

November Card Club & My new Stampin up Site

Hello everyone,
I scheduled our November Card club for Nov 5th.  The very first Friday in November.  I just can't wait to get back into crafting.  I'm almost over this crazy cold.  I can't seem to get off the cough drops yet though.  I've also got my Stampin Up Website up and running for those of you who would like to get some stampin ideas and projects from home and shopping is available 24/7.  If you need any help navigating around the site just click here to send me a message and I will gladly help you out.  There are some great deals in the clearance section of the site and new items are being added as they come available and disappearing as they sell out.  At this next card club I will talk to everyone about a stamp club and see if anyone would like to get involved in it.  I will also be showing you all the holiday mini that's out right now.  Let me know if you're interested in attending.  Space is limited.

Supplies used:

2" scallop punch
Stampin up patterns III paper pack
bone fold
Stampin up Dimensionals

Happy 60th Jerry

We went to a surprise party for a family friend this past weekend.  It was hard to believe that he was turning 60.  I started to think of what I was going to do for his card because once again, I'm not the greatest with the masculine ideas for cards.  I just got this new stamp set from Stampin Up's current mini catalogue called French Foliage (LOVE IT) and I knew that it would be perfect for a male card and it fits for this time of year.  What a great set!  I used bravo burgundy and pumpkin pie ink.  I did the BAM! method on it.  This is where you add your lighter color first then BAM it once into your darker color and then stamp.  It gives it a nice 2 tone color.  The combination was perfect.  Hope you like it!

Another Birthday Card

Here's a picture of my husband's birthday card.  I really didn't know where I was going with this one.  I know it's a really bad photo.  I had all kinds of crazy things in the background because I still haven't purchased a photo cube to take my blog pictures with.  I Love making girly cards but when it comes to masculine cards, their just not fun for me.  I used this old bamboo stamp that I bought from ebay a few years ago.  I used really rust by SU and this designer paper also from SU in the same color.  The card base is kraft by paper trey ink.

Hayley's Birthday card

My oldest daughter Hayley turned 12 this week.  Here a quick little card that I made for her.  I made this cute side profile flower with a few simple folds.  We will be making some of these flowers at this month's card club.  I will be posting a card from my husband's 40th birthday tomorrow night.  His birthday is today and I haven't taken a photo of it yet.  Happy stamping!

Bouncing Brayer Graduation Card

Here's another bouncing brayer card.  They are so much fun to make and super quick.  The background is full of color and design that you don't need to put too much embellishment on it.  Today we are going to my nephew's graduation/college farewell party.  I cut the graduation cap from my sure cuts alot and I used Marina Mist, Real Red & Night of Navy ink by SU.  I also used a cuttlebug embossing folder with the scibbles around the edge of my die cut.  If anyone is ever interested in the files that I cut out with the SCAL, just let me know and I can email it to you.

Fabulous Explosion Box

My cousin Teresa was turning 40 so I got her a pretty necklace and earring set for her birthday.  I thought it would be great to make an explosion box to wrap it in.  Her favorite color is green, so I made it green with a touch of pink to match her card.  I figured that she could use it to put her party pictures in and it's already labeled for her 40th.  She loved it!

Fabulous at 40

My cousin Teresa is turning 40 this coming Saturday.  I knew that I wanted to make a fabulous card because 40 is a very special birthday.  I thought that this little lady from the Forever Young cricut cartridge would be perfect for her card and I used some more of that white glitter paper for the 40 that I picked up at Target for .99.  This card is much larger then the A2 ones I usually make (5 1/2 x 8) so I had to think of a lot of fillers.  I used the devine swirls on the pink behind the girl and the sentiment came from my usual mega mixed messages by paper trey ink.  Hope you like!

Graduation Card

I just got home from a graduation party at my neighbor's house.  I had to hustle last night to put a card together but had no idea what her college colors were to even give me a clue where to start.  Since I didn't have any  colors to go by, I just went on my own inspiration.  I had some white glitter paper and I used a graduation cap that I found online that I cut with my SCAL and my cricut.  I also used the banner image from my scal to deliver my sentiment.  I think that the paper really made the card.  Hope you like it.

Anniversary Scrapbook pages

I finally did some scrapbooking.  It was from last October (2009).  We went to Morton's Steak house in Boston with 3 other couples to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary.  We had a great time and even got a serenade by the 1 and only chef at the end of our meal.  He sounded like an opera singer.  It was fantastic!  Well here it goes...Hope you like it.

Card Club August

I've been asked if I would do another Brayering class.  I'm going to do a card club on August 9th at 7pm.  It's a Monday night.  Friday's are very busy for me during the summer so I won't be going back to Fridays until September.  We'll be going back over the basics but we will be doing some new styles of brayering that we didn't cover in June.  We will be doing some masking and do the jumping brayer like in the last post I just did.  I had a full class last month so if you are interested in coming on Aug. 9th, please let me know as soon as possible.  I have very limited space.

Bouncing Brayer Birthday Card

I was almost afraid to try it but it turned out great on the first try.  I wanted to and catch up on some scrapbooking but there are so many birthdays this month that I can't stop making cards (not a bad thing).  I brayered the cardstock in Marina mist by SU then bounced the brayer with Night of Navy by SU.  I used a sponge with frost white ink by Colorbox to add a highlight behind the skateboarder.  I cut the skateboarder using my Sure Cuts alot.  I found the image on the internet and saved it to my computer and then my cricut did the rest.  Isn't he so cool.  It's hard to think of a card to make for a 12 year old boy and I love the way this one came out.

Brayered Thank you

Can you tell that I LOVE the brayering technique.  It is so pretty and different.  I really love the look of natural sunlight when taking a picture so I took this about 8am this morning before going to work.  It's never as nice as seeing it in person but it's better then not sharing.  I used the Inspired by nature (LOVE IT) stamp set by stampin up and the colors used were night of navy, marina mist and summer sun.  The martha stewart latice punch was used on the edge and the sentiment was from the watercolor trio stamp set by SU.  Hope you like it!

Aloha...Alex is turning 9

My middle daughter Alex is turning 9 so we planned for her to have some of her friends over for a little hawaiian Luau.  I saw a cute idea in this month's parents magazine about making an invitation shaped like a flip flop.  I changed it a little bit and found a perfect svg file online that I cut with my Sure cuts alot and cricut.  I used some tropical paper that I had in my craft room made by Me and My Big Ideas.  I cut it a 2nd time with kraft cardstock by paper trey ink and glued it to the back to give it some weight.  I used green ribbon for the straps and just any layered flowers that I had on my computer and also cut that with my SCAL.  I thought that it was adorable and hopefully her friends will too.

Mojo Monday sketch challenge 146

It's been so long since I've done a mojo card.  I need to get my mojo back and find time to enter my cards more often.  I liked this weeks sketch and used some embellished papers that I already had made in my craft room.  I had embossed some paper with my cuttlebug and then brayered it with rich razzleberry.  I love trying to make my own patterned paper and come up with something different.  The flower was made with a 2 scallops that were scored and folded to create this 3D design.  I wouldn't dare put it in the mail because I am pretty sure that it wouldn't fit in the envelope too well but it's perfect to give with a gift.

Flower pot card

I can still remember your faces when I showed everyone at cardclub that we were making this card.  It's perfect for so many occasions.  I already know who this one is going to and I need to make another one for someone else.

Brayered Card

Hello Everyone.  I just got back from Cape Cod and had a wonderful time in the sun with my family.  Before I left,  We had one last cardclub before summer and we all had a great time trying the brayer for the first time.  Everyone's cards came out so beautiful!  I can't believe that it was everyone's first time doing that technique.  I hope you all play with it some more at home, I'd love to see what you come up with.  Here's a card that I made right before I left on vacation.  I'm really happy with how it came out.  I tried some masking with the moon.  The ink colors I used were crushed curry, summer sun, rich razzleberry and bravo burgandy.  The tree stamp is so old that I don't remember who makes it.  They were stamped in basic black.

Teacher's thank you cards

My youngest daughter Ava just graduated from preschool last Friday.  I made these cards for her 2 teachers to say Thank you for a wonderful year.  I used a SU set called Happy Moments and used my blender pen to color in the flowers.  I also used some glossy accents to the flower petals to give them some dimension and shine.  It's a nice addition to a card if you have the time to let it dry.    It's a very simple layout but I loved the way they came out.  Sometimes simple is all you need.

Card Club for June / Brayer technique

I have been so out of the loop when it comes to my blog lately.  The end of the school year is coming and there seems to be tons of things to do everyday.  My little girl turned 5 on Wednesday and she graduated from preschool today.  2 of my girls have their gymnastics show tonight and after next Wednesday's 3rd grade bbq, I should be out of the woods.  I am planning this month's cardclub on Friday June 25th.  We will be learning a brayer technique like the one shown in this card and also including some other fun types of card that we haven't done before.  I have limited space so please let me know if you will be attending as soon as possible.

Mark & Lucy's Wedding card

I am so glad that I'm able to finally post a picture of my brother and new sister-in-laws wedding card.  They got married last Friday night.  The wedding was beautiful and the Bride and Groom looked fabulous.  You could see all over their faces exactly how much in love they really wereThe brides maids were a deep chocolate brown and the ushers had hot pink vests on.  I know it sounds a little funny thinking of the guys in pink but it was all picture perfect.  On their card, I used the Tie the knot cricut cartridge and I cut the image of the bride and groom out of silver shimmer paper by reflections.  I cut the window from another cartridge but I can't remember which one that was.  I embossed the back layer with my cuttlebug to add some dimension.  I also popped up the bride and groom with some SU dimensional.  My layers were in brown and pink and the sentiment was by paper trey ink's Mega mixed message.  Hope you like it!

Monogramed Birthday cards

Last weekend my daughter Alex had so many Birthday parties to go to.  One was a slumber party for her twin friends Hannah & Sarrah.  It's sometimes hard to get some inspiration for a card but to have to create 2 at a time seems impossible.  I decided to create some monogrammed cards but with the same layout.  I create these top note  die cuts with my sure cuts alot and embossed them with the cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder. I cut the letters out with the storybook cartridge of my cricut expression.  I used a fiskars border punch but I can't seem to remember what the name of it is.  I think it's one of the newer designs though.  The sentiment is from SU's newest stamp set watercolor trio.  It just became available on May 1st and it was stamped with SU's night of navy ink.  I know I don't usually list all my materials but if anyone ever wonders what I use, just let me know.  Have a great day!

Father's day cards

Friday's cardclub was great!  We made these adorable father's day cards that were so easy to make.  Any kind of striped or plaid paper would make a great shirt card.
I also had my nephew Luke's 2nd Birthday party yesterday.  The theme was dinosaurs so I incorporated a dinosaur into his card.  I did a faux silk technique that my friend Jen just told me about over at her blog ICREATE.  It gave it a nice aged effect.  My sister Patty loved it.

Another item for sale

I was doing some cleaning in my scraproom today.  I'm always moving things around and reorganizing so I decided to store my spools of ribbon in a different way, which brings me to my item for sale.  It's a ribbon organizer made of wood that sits on a lazy susan with 3 different height dowels measuring 9 1/8, 11 1/4 & 13 1/8.  I had 28 spools of ribbon on it and still had plenty of room for more.  If you are interested, I'm selling it for $10.  If you need shipping costs, just click contact me.

Card Club Cards

We had a great turnout at this month's card club.  We did 3 different techniques that I think everyone enjoyed.  The first card that we did was an easel card.  We used the pocket silhouette stamp set by stampin up.  This card would be great for Mother's day coming up next month.
We did a cracked glass technique with the next card.  I can't even tell you how hot it was in my scrap room with all of those heat guns all going on at the same time.

Simple Sweet Birthday

My daughter Alex had a Birthday party to go to last Friday.  I had such a busy Friday that I totally forgot to make her a card to go with her gift.  I didn't have much time but with this simple design, I only needed about 5 minutes and my Doodlecharm Cricut cartridge.  I used a crimper on the cupcake cup and I added some diamond stickles to the top.  Some ribbon and a sweet sentiment stamp and I was done.  Sometimes you need to just have a quick card layout ready and this was one of those times.  I'll have some great cards to show you this weekend after Friday night's card club.  Have a great rest of the week.
